195104 was derailed at Grange over Sands this morning. It appears it was track subsidence that was the cause |

DfT allowing Northern to get away with breaching conditions of carriage again. No services tomorrow between Colne and Blackpool South due to lack of staff volunteering to do a Sunday shift. There will be no replacement bus services. https://www.journeycheck.com/northernrail |

RE: Northern Trains Ltd
A very high number of cancellations due to 'a short notice change to the timetable' today, despite no overtime ban. The first two Stockport bound services from Chester were cancelled, while there's also two consecutive cancellations in the evening peak too. |

RE: Northern Trains Ltd
Northern's cancellation rate today is terrible. Some routes have seen around 40% of services cancelled this afternoon and evening, especially around the Manchester area. I think it's the worst it's ever been, with the exception of Sundays or when there's a reasonable reason for mass cancellations e.g. extreme weather or industrial action. |

Could it possibly have anything to do with the all Manchester FA Cup final??? |

However, if Northern are relying on volunteers to do overtime to cover so many weekend services they are in real trouble. If industrial relations are poor I wouldn't be surprised if some staff decided they are sick but well enough to watch the cup final (from home). https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/...wtt&toc=NT Just checking London services, it looks like Avanti fell a long way short of providing a full service to get fans to and from the cup final. https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/...wtt&toc=VT |

RE: Northern Trains Ltd
My understanding is that all Sunday work at Northern depots west of the pennines was voluntary. ; As for Avanti the trains shown CAN were due to the Crewe-Norton Bridge blockade. |
