Noticed on the Merseyrail website a series of lift installations at Hillside, Hunts Cross, St Michaels and Birkenhead Park is due to take place from April 2021 to April 2022.

Merseyrail services remain suspended between Rock ferry and Chester / Ellesmere Port , due to severe flooding in the Hooton and Ledsham areas.

Buses are in operation between the above locations.

To enable a decent level of service bus wise to each destination , the buses will operate Hooton - Chester , Hooton - Ellesmere Port and Hooton - Rock Ferry.

That would suggest to me that work needs doing to the track bed to improve drainage capabilities in those areas.

With Ledsham, it’s the water coming off the adjacent fields, but also water coming up from a trackside culvert in times of flood

Network rail must now be at wits end with the Ledsham problem . which then runs in the general direction of Hooton Station .

Hooton Station is a geographical nightmare for Network rail as the formation is generally downhill in all directions to the actual station , which sits like a bowl for the water. people will say pump the water out but where to because if you dont get rid off it , it will just reappear by fair means or foul back in the station as the water table is so high now.

I do wonder could they build like a water tower which the water then gets pumped into and then when the weather improves, release the water slowly into the sewage system.

I know it would still cause disruption while it was set up and stuff but it would surely reduce the length of the disruption as the problem would be resolved quicker.

The water table is that high now any excess amount of water from any further rain next week and youll find the line in the same position.

If your pumping into a water course your just moving the problem elsewhere .
