RE: Stagecoach MCSL - Chester & Wirral Depots
Bus has finally been recovered, broke down around 08.10 recovery vehicle arrives 09.50 & then another 50 minutes getting it ready then towing it, got me thinking why don't bus companies have there own recovery vehicles like they used to rather than contracting out recovery, every main depot used to have a recovery vehicle back then, would have been quicker that the wait just now. This issue of bus breakdowns and recovery has been raised before. Prior to deregulation, the MPTE operated two or three recovery vehicles within Merseyside with the radio call signs Dog and Ribble and Crosville also had their own such vehicles. I agree that it does seem inefficient to contract out such work to third parties by both SC and Arriva but it must make economic sense and be more cost-effective rather than retain their own. |

The stagecoach promotional material for promoting the benefits of the Gold 38 has this caveat at the bottom... *service 38 do not include USB charging points and have e-leather seating. HTH in some way. |

Because the Ketttering Scanias never did for some reason, some of which are also mechnically knackered which is why they havent been rolled out quicker or to the 1 as planned, same with the coaches for the X5 |

I've read the article a few times in the Wirral Globe, at no point it mentions the 38 going to deckers, just Stagecoach Gold vehicles. My Flickr site http://www.flickr.com/photos/31135444@N02/ |

I was on 15740 today on the 1 and it still had adverts upstairs for Kettering council yet it looked like it had been repainted. Also the suspension left a lot to be desired as have the others I've been on.Certainly need more work doing on them. |

It sounds like the one i was on the other day from Birkenhead to Chester , the suspension sounded like it was creaking they definitely leave a bit to be desired compare to the single decker gold vehicles which are very good runners. Is it little wonder that Stagecoach down south wanted rid of these vehicles. |

At the time, it was a Rock Ferry diagram, but nothing showed for 30 minutes. When I complained to Stagecoach, I was told that the duty ran, but the driver thought he was on a service 1, so followed that route all the way to Liverpool. Oops! |

Thinking about it now, how common can that be, especially after a route change, drivers go into autopilot forgetting about the new route & stick to the old one? Come to think of it, i've seen many drivers, when the 423 went through Sandbrook, forget to go through Sandbrook, then doing a U turn at Moreton Cross, back down Hoylake Road then onto Stavordale Road.
