New Chester Bus Exchange
RE: New Chester Bus Exchange
An arriva wrexham based driver said they won't use the bus station as the council are charging them to use it.

Apparently as they run the 1 & 11 commercially, it's supposedly only the services which are subsidised that'll use the exchange.

What difference would that make is the driver unaware that they are being charged to use the existing bus station

RE: New Chester Bus Exchange
Times on all routes into Chester have to be retimed for no layovers in Chester so for example the likes of us Rock Ferry drivers who need to toilet in Chester Bus Interchange cant which wont go down well...very badly designed bus station almost as badly designed as Birkenhead!

Why do they have a driver room and toilets here then? Also Number 1s need time because traffic can vary meaning it can be v late sometimes so time is needed in case.

The route 1 running late issue should be accounted for in the timetable. That's got nothing to do with the new bus station. Operators should realise that the new bus station does not have extensive layover facilities, therefore they are advised to factor this in when planning their duties and diagrams.

Speaking as someone who does not know the route very well (by No.1 i`m assuming you mean the Liverpool 1),Could they not move the layover time to elsewere in the route (eg. Ellesmere Port or at the Liverpool end?) If i remember correctly the current layover time in Chester is around 15min,could they not easily move 5mins layover elsewere on the route,if its sometimes very late add an extra 5min to the running time to try & help then keep 5min layover at Chester?

RE: New Chester Bus Exchange
They could put 5 minutes into Ellesmere Port however the number 1 can sometimes do the route with no trouble and get a full 15 mins in Chester however sometimes, they can come in and have to go straight out if Cheshire Oaks is busy, an accident on the motorway. Anthing can make the number 1 15 minutes late. You can account for it then buses stop at every timing point because they are early or, as current, the layover is at the Chester end because Liverpool doesnt have lots of layover space either. If the old bus stop opposite the bus station is remaining, liverpool buses could run from Liverpool Road, left onto the ring road then if ontime, go round Hoole Way roundabout into the station or if early, turn right where the old bus bollard was then drop off in the iceland side bus stop and layover there but there isnt ample space if that was the plan for those. Without the 15 minutes in Chester, this route could drop to one of the most unreliable because as I said, you cant count it in the schedule and you cant drop it.

Traffic and accidents are both bound to happen and need to be factored in by operators when scheduling routes.

RE: New Chester Bus Exchange
Apologies if I've missed it but where does the new service 200 operate to?
