Closure of bus lanes in Liverpool
RE: Closure of bus lanes in Liverpool.
I wonder whether bus companies will be forced to reduce frequencies............ replacing single deck vehicles with larger double decker buses, but at a lower frequency could potentially IMPROVE traffic congestion.

Travel is glamorous only in retrospect.

Buses are supposed to improve traffic flow , but removing bus lanes will have an undesired effect of bringing more traffic in to areas which can least cope with it.

The only problem is most of the useful bus lanes are in Liverpool .

I do wonder how much say Arriva and Stagecoach have had into this edict from the Mayor.

Some of the above bus lanes (such as the Park Road one) were only in operation between the hours of 7.30-9.30am anyway.

Oh Superman where are you now, when everything's gone wrong somehow, the men of steel, the men of power, are losing control by the hour.

7.30 -9.30 are the busiest times though aren't they, others are for evening rush hour. This will not help those times one bit, this idiotic mayor is simply trying to save his job because he has messed up everywhere else.

RE: Closure of bus lanes in Liverpool.
The best thing to happen with this outcome would be for buses to block exits and turn off points whilst stuck in stationary traffic such as at the Lime St bus lane. Buses repeatedly blocking the turnoff for Hanover St/Copperas Hill (due to extra traffic and more queues) would cause mayhem for all traffic trying to enter (and exit) the City Centre from the south and generate bad publicity for the scheme.

You never know guys, it might actually work (doubtful), but you never know!

MPTE, yes they are the busiest times of a morning but for example the Park Road one has no evening use despite it getting just as busy then.

There will be the odd one that doesn't matter as they are hardly used, but for the busy one's, well what can I say that I haven't already.
