From AZ's point of view, 12117-26 were moved there specifically to run 219s; and from HE's point of view, there are plenty spare to run Sunday 219s. Presumably, this was part of the reason for removing the branding from at least some of the "256" batch (12220-32). The funny thing is since the arrival of the MMCs at AZ allocations seem as patchy as ever. I think it was Friday morning just before lunchtime that I passed through Ashton and noticed two consecutive Hybrids on the 347 plus as I was going up the bypass or 'white elephant' a further hybrid passed in the opposite direction desti'ed up for the 330 plus later in the day one appeared in glossop on the 237 so clearly if there on other AZ services then there not out on the 219. To be fair on HE most of the workings are Hybrids and are very often the debranded 256 examples but from time to time standard diesel examples do turn up. Incidentally I noticed today a lot of Sharstons 168/169 runs were worked by Hybrids. I'm assuming they interwork with other services but where are Sharstons hybryds normally used on a Sunday? |
