I'm not so sure.
Maynes had a large number of older 'experienced' drivers who had been there for years. Obviously on completion of the takeover in 2008 most transferred to Stagecoach Manchester but a lot left prefering the family feel of smaller local operators.
I don't think pay difference is a factor, with smaller operators the majority of work is contracted and can be lost so I would imagine job security is more of an issue.
