I'm no fan of Deregulation or "bus wars", simoly because there has never been enough passengers to go round. And the competition we've had in GM has mostly been a case of incumbants undercutting "the orange bus" by as little as 5% and only on certain sections of routes. Once passengers realised the newcomers were very unreliable and had generally lower standards, the successor to GMT won out. But this is on a totally different scale. There is a huge difference between having to make small increases to sustain a decent level and quality service and being plain greedy. These rises to me seem to represent the latter. I certainly feel lucky paying £13.50 for my Stagecoach weekly ![]() |
