Western Ferries
On Tuesday I travelled on the Western Ferries service from McInroys Point (Gourock) to Hunters Quay (Dunoon). It is a 20 minute crossing and had three ferries in service operating a 20 minute off peak service. In peak hour the fourth vessel comes into service and operates a 15 minute service.
The company has four vessels - two built at Fergusons on the River Clyde, and the other two built at Cammell Laird at Birkenhead in 2013. All four are of an identical design and are unusual that that they do not reverse into the terminals - both fore and aft of the vessels are used for the crossings.
The terminals are not very accessible for foot passengers being approx 2 kms from both Gourock and Dunoon. However there is a bus every 15 minutes (Routes 547 and 900/1) run by McGills from Gourock Pier Head.

All time rail mileage travelled 327264 miles
