I spend a fair amount of time in Sheffield and from what I can tell there aren't any routes that don't have to tackle some steep climbs. In days gone by, SYPTE always bought buses with big, powerful engines and I believe that practice continues now with its successors (First and Stagecoach). Apart from Everton Brow, the 20/21 routes run on flat and level roads. If the Enviro300s are now considered unsuitable for most GM routes what were they thinking of when the 55/06 Darts were ordered? |
