Back to the additional 377s, it appears they are heading to Transpennine Express (North Transpennine routes) and East Midlands Trains (London-Corby).

Southern will order the 377s.
Southern will retain **some" 377s for themselves.
The remainder will then go to Thameslink until the TL specific rolling stock arrives, (short term, aprox 1 year).
The 377s will then be divided accordingly between TPE and EMT (or whoever is running the franchises at that point).

So some 377s will be coming to Liverpool for the new Liverpool-Newcastle express electric service - eventually.

Initial order will be 116 new vehicles, with a follow on order of 140 more if everything goes to plan. Southern will manage procurement on behalf of the DfT.
