Depends on which one of each you get.
I agree! Some definite stereotyping going on here - a perfect reason why certain members get annoyed by the immediate type-hating...

2101 and 2102 are ok considering their age and 2298 was that great if it turned up on a 10A i would get it its that good (before anyone says i know its not going on a 10A just using it as an example)

How do you know that the expected Marshalls aren't just as good though? Or is it just because they're Marshalls that they're immediately worse?

In fairness, I can partially back up what Terrence is saying as the ride quality of 2101/2102/2298 is excellent. I'm not keen on more Marshalls either (I stated my reasons for disliking them over on another thread) so would rather retain the Pointer 1 vehicles personally.

As a regular driver of both types i can say the st helens marshall examples are not the best as i cant talk for 7676,7644 or 7647 as ive not driven them yet but the others are not really nice to drive and would much rather drive the dennis pointer 1's in all fairness as they dont rattle as much and are a lot more comfy as the drive quality is much much better then the marshalls.

I've not had 7647 yet either but by god was it noisy in the bus station yesterday!

If we are to get 7628 from winsford and 7635/42 from Birkenhead to replace the 3 remaining pointer 1s, seems an odd move as I would have thought these would be replaced when the versas arrive.

Thanks!

That's a fair point. Currently we should be looking at having 5 extra Versas after the Paladins are withdrawn which would allow for those 3 to go along with some of the R-ABAs manufactured in 1998. I suppose they could be looking at taking a bigger chunk out of the R-ABAs with the 3 Marshalls though.

We have also forgetten that there is also some T-Platers to go in 2014 as well, both Marshall & Pointers. So all in all there will be about 100 buses to be replaced in that year.
