Stagecoach Manchester and Wigan
RE: Stagecoach Manchester and Wigan
Does anyone know on here know anything about 33 Wigan-Manchester service being up for retender later this year only I've been told by various people that Stagecoach have lost the tender and that Diamond Bus Northwest have won the tender, but I've yet to see anything on here reported yet.

Temporarly at Gillmoss for the next couple of weeks are about 5/6 Hybrid Enviro400s for the Open Golf Tournament at Royal Birkdale, not sure if anything else is heading down from Manchester to help out though

RE: Stagecoach Manchester and Wigan
Problems with various Stagecoach Manchester services in/around Stockport last night caused by a combination of factors including a major RTC on M60 between J27/1 and the closure of Greek Street meant Stockport was gridlocked or near to throughout the rush hour, some services were reporedly running well over an hour late apparently at one point.

As a result of the above some services will still running late even after the incident had cleared about 18:10 last night as I was in Ashton Bus Station and while other Stagecoach Ashton services seemed to be running ok the 18:15 & 18:30 330 failed to show, also Daw Bank's 7s were running late as well with 2 leaving Ashton Bus Station within 10mins of each other, one would have been about 25min late and the other I think was only running about 10 late from Ashton.

Trip to Swindon yesterday, 10447 & 10629 noted in Swindon depot, and very unexpectedly, 10416 was in use on local Swindon route 3.

Being Manchester, there appears to be no local publicity (cue "oh, its on InstantTwitFace" response); differing versions of where it will run, and how difficult in practice it be to actually ride on it. One source states it will "shadow" service journeys, therefore can't use Bus Stations without incurring Penalties.

It's a strange one this as when I first read about it on Friday assumed it was some kind of trail against the catch 22/Higgs open top tours in Manchester. I headed straight for the stagecoach website and as you say there's no mention of it. A mate of mine who works at AZ knew nothing about it so I presume it's more of a press thing rather than aimed at the public. I Carnt see how anyone travelling to work on a Monday morning on the 203 who happens to end up on the open topper is suddenly going to think ...I'm going to cancel my two weeks in Spain next month and and instead go to the lakes simply because Stagecoach use these brilliant open toppers... lol.

There has been a couple of posts on twitter but in all seriousness surly doing this over a weekend would have brought better results?

As for the duplicates not using the bus stations, I would happily bet money on them doing just that. Financial penalties won't bother them.

As its supposed to have a hours layover/break at Ashton at around midday in between trips, I cant this penalties thing being an issue, although doing this in the school holidays could well be, with passenger 'behaviour'. I would hope a second member is there to monitor the upper deck.

I saw a couple of 25s this afternoon, firstly an Enviro 400H then an Enviro 400-MMC. With the reductions to route 192 in view of Stockport College shorts curtailed at Levenshulme, I think route 25 could be double-deck Daily. We shall soon see!

The schedule looks to be early if anything. Passed through Ashton at 12.25 and parked up in the layover bay was the open topper with a handful of Stagecoach drivers and TFGM officials all looking round the bus.

RE: Stagecoach Manchester and Wigan
Caught the tail end of a stagecoach advert today on way to work on local radio that seemed to suggest they had a special offer on and all adult single fares between 7pm and midnight are no more than £2?? Presumably this is across the network as it didn't mention specific services.
Anyone know anything about it?
