Avon Buses
RE: Avon Buses
There is quite a few Merseytravel contractors over the years had a bit of trouble when contracts have been lost to commercial operations , Merseytravel have also had there fingers burnt after withdrawing from contracts only for the operator of said commercial operation to go bust as well.

RE: Avon Buses
Im just looking at the new timetables for the 40/40A and it seems at this rate Avon want to be operating it into the wee small hours .

To be honest the 00.19 Mill Park to Birkenhead Bus Station arr 00.51hrs is going to be a waste of fuel , it may as well head back to Prenton from Mill Park. Think this service has its history as the 23.53 from Mill Park as the old 240 , remember that route but that was useful as merseybus and happy als both had depots in Birkenhead.

RE: Avon Buses
Think the main victim of Avons changes maybe Carr Lane in Hoylake.
If the 138 comes off at some point can't see anything that would replace that section of the route

The only part of the 138/139 that might be affected by the Avon Buses route changes would be the the section around Newton/West Kirby. The section between West Kirby and Hoylake should mainly be unchanged despite other commercial routes operating the same way (except into Carr Lane).

RE: Avon Buses
Everytime I have done A 138 in the past no one ever gets on or off in Carr Lane

RE: Avon Buses
Without the Newton section of the 138 the Carr Lane section would ed up being chopped by Merseytravel as most of the route is actually covered by commercial services with the exception of Carr Lane and then the Merseyrail station at Hoylake would mop up the traffic that remained .

Timetables for most of the service changes are now on the merseytravel website

RE: Avon Buses
If my calculations are correct the rerouted and retimed 22 will only be 3 minutes slower than the X22 from Heswall to Chester.

RE: Avon Buses
It looks like the 22 is timed to run about 15 minutes prior to the X22 from Heswall and 10 minutes prior from Heswall.

Can this route justify two services trailing each other round effectively or coming to an understanding to operate that one of the operators will retime there service so that services are more evenly spaced .
