RE: Merseyrail
Services have been restored , but whilst the problem was being rectified as you say the Ormskirk services could not proceed beyond Walton , Kirkby services beyond Rice Lane , Southport services beyond Bank Hall and the Hunts Cross service was not running at all.

A couple of Wirral line trains where affected as well as the units come from Kirkdale to start the services.

RE: Merseyrail
Level crossing barriers are currently stuck down at Maghull they have been like that since 06:40 and causing traffic chaos so this could cause dealys to the 5 and 234 buses.

RE: Merseyrail
Sunday- Overrunning engineering work in Bidston area
Monday- Track fault at Hunts Cross, track fault between Sandhills and Moorfields
Tuesday- No infrastructure issues
Wednesday- No infrastructure issues
Thursday- Trackside equipment fault at Sandhills
Friday- Track faults at Hillside, Ainsdale and Maghull

That's five infrastructure failures in six days, all of which caused severe delays and/ or suspension of service.

What are Network Rail playing at?

It was overnight engineering work that went over the allotted time and probably something that had to completed come what may because the infrastructure has to be in good shape to convey the passengers for the open golf .

RE: Merseyrail
The Wirral lines have had a run of problems too, a mix of the units, losing power and line equipment, but seems to have settled in recent days; the announcements of problems on the Merseyrail twitter feed seems as regular as the trains sometimes (okay, slight exaggeration!). Hot weather?

Today is the start of the Merseyrail's highest utilisation of units day .

July 12th Order lodge Day , with ALL Southport services allocated six cars , there is also an afternoon race meeting at Chester to contend with as well .
