Arriva North West - Birkenhead Depot
RE: Arriva North West - Birkenhead Depot
What was the reasoning for branding buses Lebus ?

Some bright spark in marketing must have thought it sounded good , but sounded quite tacky.

All three were 'Le Bus' branded for the 82.

To be fair, that didn't mean anything to Arriva. Regularly saw 86 branded B7s on the 82 and vice versa.

Oh Superman where are you now, when everything's gone wrong somehow, the men of steel, the men of power, are losing control by the hour.

Thanks for that.Smile

The reason 4002 wasn't branded as it had a tachograph and was used on private hires.

'Le Bus' was something to do with the City of Culture thing back in 2003. It orginally appeared on Bootle based darts for the 53 and may have also been used on the then Huyton based ones used on the 6/7. It then appeared more widely in 2005/06 on the Speke based B10BLE's on the 79, Commander's on the 74 to 77 group of services and the deckers used on the 82/86 before gradually fading away by about 2009/10. Hope this helps.

4097 is operating the opposite way around on the 495 today, to be honest I can't see it straying away from these services too much.

The original purple "Lebus" was used on the 1,2,3,4/A,6,7,12,13,14/A,18A,52/A?,53/A,55/A and 79/D.
It was actually used to identify which routes were low floor/(semi-low floor operated in the case of 79/D).
Other brandings of this style but in red/light blue included the "Airlink" 48A and 401/X11

Around 2005, there was a different orange "le bus" for the 5,6 and 7 service
Liverpool - Rainhill / Huyton / Warrington.

It was 2006/2007 when the red "le bus" was used more widely on mostly Speke and Bootle services:
6/7, 52/A, 53/A , 55/A, 74/75/76/77, 79/D, 82, 86/A/N.

The 52/52A were involved - some ALX200s were branded, alongside several Plaxtons (if I remember correctly).

The 52s/53s/55s were all just one set of branding. Also, the 14s were involved in the scheme (a few Commanders had the branding - not sure if anything else had it, though).

4097 was on the 419 today while 4205 was on the 414 with quite a decent load going along Leasowe Road!

4001 was on the 407/72 last week and performed well, it later did the N450 all night too. All 3 of these seem to have been on the road as normally lately.

The Echo reports that a route 423 driver was assaulted last Friday evening in Moreton over a ticket dispute. Quite appalling behaviour and my thoughts go to the driver concerned.
