This match is still in the balance , at the moment marginally in favour of England but its not plain sailing yet as the first innings has proved .

I think that Australia have to look at how they use the DRS because there could be some close decisions this morning that will not be able to be reviewed now , England have two that can still be reviewed if needs arise .

England have won by 14 runs .

Guess what video technology won the day with Hot Spot picking the finest of edges.

England now lead the Ashes series 1-0

Blimey !! That was tension.

Roll on Thursday when the Second Test Match starts from Lords.

Michael Vaughan on twitter has said he thinks today will be the last day of this particular test match .

England have Australia under the cosh , England lead by 566 runs with five wickets remaining , highly likely England will declare overnight and put Australia into bat on this wearing pitch , at the start of play there is 180 overs left in the Test Match.

James Pattinson , Australian Fast bowler has been ruled out of the rest of the test series with a stress fracture of his lower back.

Can thinks get worse for the Australian Team .

This probably means that Mitchell Starc will now start the 3rd Test Match at the Emirates Old Trafford , he was left out of the 2nd Test Match.

If the weather stays like it is here , then it will be Ashes retained and then it will be experiment with the batting line up to get it just right for the Ashes down under.

A number of items of Interest :

* England retained the ashes following only about 20 overs being bowled on the final day before the rains started , England had progressed to 37 For 3 .

* The International Cricket Council will discuss Hot Spot technology at their chief executives' committee meeting next month with the possibility it could be phased out before the next Ashes series.

England have won the Ashes series tonight with a 74-run victory at Chester-Le-Street with just 20 minutes left on the fourth day. The hero of the test has been Stuart Board, whose 11 wicket haul effectively won the test.

England retained The Ashes at Old trafford .

England have won The Ashes at Chester-Le-Street by 74 runs , 9 wickets fell in that final session .

The Fifth Test starts a week on Thursday (22 August) at The Oval.

I do wonder what changes both sides will try for this last game in the Present Ashes series .

Dont forget Ashes Part 2 starts in November at The Gabba .

I do think that this match is more of a killer blow to Australia as in this match Australia was on top for a good majority of it .

The England Squad for the 5th Test at The Oval is announced tomorrow at 09.30

Its highly likely that Chris Tremlett will play in the match , also this is his home ground as well , so knows the entire wicket like the back of his hand .
