Most of the buses there on the day had their faults that you could easily point out. The Southport B7 looked better (although it's picked up a fair few burns since refurbishment upstairs from use on the 375/85) but I wouldn't go so far as to call the Speke Gemini "scruffy" as a consequence.

No one said you did mention 4107 - my point is simply the fact that virtually every bus there had something you could suggest made it look untidy, so it seems slightly unfair to single out 4469 which certainly wasn't the shabbiest one on show.

For its age and for its apparent purpose, I was not impressed with how it was presented. 3065 looked tidy - so did 4107. Apart from 4469 looking "scruffy", I wasn't bothered about the presentation of the buses - just about the choice, as a local person (who assumed that the show was about history and preservation, not Arriva showing-off their "best" buses).(09/10/2012 21:39)3111 Wrote: Good grief... I hope it's clear now that it isn't just about preservation. It's entirely the choice of Arriva's depots what they send to the show and I say good on them. The chap on 4107 was also handing out "goodies" such as pens and keyrings which I also thought was a nice touch.

Obviously, Arriva CAN send what they want - doesn't mean that everybody is going to be impressed, though. Didn't see anything like that happening but I left the main yard before midday - not that I would have criticised a driver for doing that. View my new Flickr Updated! |

RE: Wirral Bus & Tram Show 2012
Indeed the Wirral Bus & Tram Show isn't just about preservation, the Bus Show is an ideal event to show off to the public the latest buses within operators fleets if they so wish to show them off, but that is entirely up to them, we made a big push this year for more moderner vehicles as regular visitors to the event may have cottoned on to. We'll be waiting on the fate of the Wirral Transport Museum before an answer to whether there will be a show next year, it's just a case of wait and see. |

It was a Runcorn Paladin at the time, I don't think St Helens have ever took anything. Also Runcorn took the Panther they used to use as a publicity bus one year. |

RE: Wirral Bus & Tram Show 2012
You're right it was, 1049. It was in the old livery which is what threw me thinking back, this was back in 2009 when Skem had 3283 there and Birkenhead had 4419 in attendance. Oh Superman where are you now, when everything's gone wrong somehow, the men of steel, the men of power, are losing control by the hour.

I agree wholeheartedly the driver who bought down 4107 is a real gem i watched him reversing 4107 into its place which was not an easy task given the small amount of space he got it absolutely spot on a true professional i can also say the same for the driver of the stagecoach trident he was a pro too i had him on the last mcw metrobus and leyland titan farewell running days a few years back. |
