RE: Arriva North West - Birkenhead Depot
A quick query as I'm after a photo of it whilst at LS....can anyone advise what would be the most likely route(s) to find 2344 V574DJC on or would it be any Cadet operated route such as the 411/418 etc?? Most pics on Flickr seem to be on the 410 which is probably quite unlikely now.....did actually see it out of service in Bebington & New Ferry a week or so ago (on test?), but couldn't catch up with it!

Ta in advance!

I had it on the 2 last week as a one off and out on a Sunday 432 last Sunday, but I've seen it increasingly on the 409 or 411 over the last few weeks like you say they've been put on anything a cadet would normally operate so also the 418/419 so any of them would be the better option.

I spent a few hours on Arriva Lairds Street Buses today,2344 (V574 DJC) on 409,3130 (MX12 KWC) 3129 (MX12 KWB) on 410,2345 (V575 DJC) on 411 followed by 2428 (X428 AJA) well i was really disappointed what was on 411 2345 is really bad with a huge scrap on the front and 2428 struggled to get into second gear it yerked a bit too

Considering the 12 plate Pulsar 2's where bought to replace the Myllenniums at Birkenhead they're most likely to be found on the 410 more than anything else to be fair.

2428s gearbox has been playing up for over a year now. A fast bus though.

Speaking of cadets, ive just been on 2431 on a 487. Quite frankly the most appauling bus I've been on this year! Looks fairly tidy, but is painfully slow and sounds awful. Driver didnt look too impressed either with foot down hardly managing 45mph!

On the 487 there isnt really a section where anything above 40 mph is really needed , section from Five ways to Thornton Hough maybe the only spot .

Yes that is true, but on the straight between Five Ways and yew tree farm when the driver is pushing the bus and its just about managing 45, thats not too good! A healthy one should manage 55 at least and the driver should have to lay off the pedel on that section, not foot down to eventually reach the right speed!

Awful compared to the other cadets.

On the bright side, I've just had 2435 on the 419s and thats a good ride. Smooth, reasonably quick off the mark, sounds ok for a cadet too. And the ferrograph says 'Service : 0' instead of the usual 10000.

Personally i think the best Cadet at LS is 2438 (X438 HJA) really smooth ride with hardly no rattling and its got a powerful engine!
