As St Helens rider pointed out it’s the first IPEMU - the ones with long range batteries for Headbolt Lane

Update: tonight’s train has been cancelled- no new date arranged yet

But I thought that 777049 was the first IPEMU. That has been at Kirkdale for months and has been doing all the battery testing,

All time rail mileage travelled 327264 miles

RE: Merseyrail
The IPEMU's are designated 777/1 and this is the first of this sub class to be moving towards Kirkdale (although now an unknown date given the news of the cancellation this evening).

777049 isn’t a IPEMU.
The IPEMUs have been built in Switzerland which have built the even numbered ones. So the IPEMUs will be 777140/2/4/6/8/50/2 seven in total. The rest will be 777/0 series so 777041/3/5/7/9/51/3 etc.777049 has only got a short range battery for shunting

777049 came across to the UK because of its position in the shed yard in Poland. It just happened to be one of the last built
