RE: Crossrail (TfL Rail)
The 315s' remarkably protracted goodbye is set to continue into 2022, with 8 units to be retained until May 2022 (and potentially beyond, depending on the success of the conversion programme of of the 7 car 345s to the full 9 coaches). Excellent news for any fellow fans of these units, which are kept outstandingly clean by Ilford and are still more reliable than the 345s.

Five of the remaining 14 Class 315s will be scrapped over the coming weeks, the first two of which are due to leave for Newport on 25th October.

There is now a possibility that the 315s could outlive the 317s, which are expected to bow out in Spring 2022.

There is a website for a preservation group that has secured a class 315 for preservation.

Yes and in fact the unit they have secured, 315820, is not one to be retained into 2022 so they will receive it imminently.

RE: Crossrail (TfL Rail)
The Class 315 Preservation Society's proposed move to preserve 315820 has fallen through and this unit will be next for the chop alongside 315819. Reportedly, the short-term storage location withdrew its offer at the eleventh hour.

They are still confident of preserving one of the eight 315s to survive into 2022. Frankly, this could be a blessing in disguise as they will avoid paying storage fees for a few months longer by taking one of the very last units to go. There was nothing special about 820 anyway.

It might be nicest if one of the 315s to run on the last day is the one eventually preserved.

315820 departed for scrap today, leaving 315837/838/839/844/847/848/853/854/856/857 as the final ten to remain at Ilford. Two more are expected to leave before the end of the year, with eight to solider on until May 2022 (and possibly a short time beyond).

Weekday diagrams for two 315 pairs remain. Both of these run in the morning peak and one set re-emerges for the evening rush, running to close of service.

315801/15 were not Crossrail units. Crossrail units are those allocated to Shenfield services.
