RE: Stagecoach - Preston Depot
15305 is at Gillmoss at present (or was last night) for private hire work so possibly a short term swap?

Stagecoach have announced that they intend to withdraw the 113 service between Preston and Wigan from early January 2019. They've announced the withdrawal early to allow Lancashire County Council to explore any potential replacement services.

And there endth Wigan's last bus (if rather long) link with any city in the relative surrounding area.

Not a total surprise. All the route changes in the past couple of years had made it painfully slow & unattractive for many passengers. Having increased from about 90 minutes to almost 2 hours to travel between places about 15 miles apart, it was never going to attract much long-distance traffic, not even for people with free passes.

(Indeed it is now quicker to travel via Chorley on Arriva 362 from Wigan, changing there to Stagecoach 125 onwards to Preston. )

Plus better frequency going via Chorley.

On another note, caught the 13.45 X2 Preston-Liverpool yesterday, this service is timmed for just under 30 minutes run Formby-Crosby[departs Formby 15.12, departs Crosby 15.39], but actually arrived in Crosby 10 minutes early, main reason being Quarry Road going through Thornton wasn't the usual nightmare that time of day around School chucking out time, because of the traffic, has been known to wait for anything up to 3 to 4 cycles to get through those traffic lights at the Green Lane & Edge Lane junctions.
