We have certainly lost a lot of ex-NBC depots in this area - Northwich, Warrington, Liverpool (Edge Lane, Skelhorne St.), Ormskirk, Southport, to name just a few (although a few came to NBC when the former BET group was taken over (Ribble, the original North Western, Trent, etc.)) |

The Ian Allan ABC fleetlist compiled by Tony Neuls in July 1984 lists it as "Clifton Road", which I presume refers to the current depot (even though Clifton Road becomes Beechwood Avenue before it reaches the depot). So it sounds as though it had already moved by then. |

The current 'Beechwood Avenue' depot opened in November 1975, for which Crosville issued a commemorative booklet. Incidentally this site is the 4th location to be used in the town, prior to this the depot had been located at: West Road, Weston Point (1920 to 1935) Baker Road, Weston Point (1935 to 1942) Broadway (1942 to 1975) This being the depot "near the Old Town" referred to above. It is also believed that, during the time the Baker Road depot was in use, some buses were outstationed at the ICI works in Weston Point. In the early '20s there was also an outstation at the Railway Hotel in Widnes (listed as a 'depot' in the 1921 timetable) |

Over the last two days i have seen a Gold Double Decker on service 2 will this be the operational spare they have for the 471/2 that usually finds its way occasionally onto the 38 , its use is to move passengers to and from Liverpool due to the supposed increase in passenger loadings because of the Grand National. |

First day of the re-routed service 1. Hopefully it won't banboozle too many punters! One wonders how long it'll be before a driver's told they're "going the wrong way"! ???? |

It's so double deckers can be used, but not until they are 100% sure that all drivers remember not to use bache. A few months before the deckers arrive |

A few months before the deckers arrive Its all well and good moving to new double decker's , the service needs to become more reliable with the major traffic hotspot's Cheshire Oaks and Chester Zoo making the timetable a work of fiction at times on the service 1 and it don't help the X8 either. If McArthur Glen and the Local Council can sort out the replacement of the roundabout with co-ordinated traffic signals the areas around that site might improve at times of peak movement , ie at Christmas Shopping season and between Christmas and New Year , where every man and woman wants to or seems to want to spend money. |
