Another thing that’s got me wondering what would happen to routes like the 133 & 167 that are currently by Hattons after St Helens starts next September? Would a different operator run it until that area starts?

Hatton’s will operate the services for the length of their contract. After which a new bidding process will be announced whereby operators can bid to run the contract until the end date (which would likely be the start of Liverpool franchising).
Even if Hatton’s are unsuccessful with the St Helens area contracts, they’re not selling the depot so would still have a base for their other commercial services, private hires, touring business and external contracts
There is no difference between the start of area franchising and the current merseytravel contract system in terms of routes passing to operators.

I would imagine a lot of brand new vehicles will be ordered as well, with nearly all the current fleet replaced.

Well with the 58 E400EV's for Gillmoss currently being built and another 50 approved (unknown whether ordered or what type mind....I do wonder if these could be Cross River ones, as the current B5LH's will be 13 then, and I'm sure LCRCA wants some sort of 'big bang' start to the franchising, much like Bee Network has done from the first day of each tranche with the 50 new deckers to Bolton from day 1, then same amount to Oldham day 1 of tranche 2...but that's just me speculating....).

Not sure if the link will work (its on a FB group) but there's a 'METRO' liveried Wright Elelectroliner at what I'm assuming is the Wrightbus factory. No idea who it's for https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=128...4770101092

I'm minded to think that this might be a 'seed' vehicle built by Wright's in the hope of encouraging orders....
