Completely agree with this. The current set up isn't perfect by any means but I'd much rather have Arriva, Stagecoach etc running the buses than Merseytravel
I have to concur. Much as I'd like to see the bus network hereabouts start growing again rather than ever shrinking, sometimes it's better the devil you know. Merseytravel calling the shots? No thanks.
Clearly an emotive issue but so far no mention of the aim of improving the environment which is what the recent legislation seems to advocate. Have, perhaps, Conservative party policy makers realised that not all that has been privatised in the past is now fit for purpose?
Next door in Greater Manchester where Franchising is one step further ahead an article published this morning saying Fares will be Cheaper but then talks about Price Rises to pay for it.. Lying to the public saying Franchising is Cheaper when you need to up Tax to pay for it is very below the belt, That is before we get into the longer term plan of more Buses on the road with Cheaper Fares again.. Can see the same thing happening with the LCR Franchising system.
