And just to back up my point. Manchester derby this Sunday. Manchester will be bustling and TFGM - who would be running the Manchester franchise have decided to cancel ALL trams on the city centre - stretford line and replace with buses and coaches - and people seriously think things would be better.

The situation with Metrolink this weekend is apparently down to weekend engineering works at Deansgate Castlefield Station from what I can gather and affects all lines not just City Centre-Stretford.
Going off topic it's not just this weekend that football in/around Manchester that will be hit by problems as next weekend when Man Utd are at home there will be even more problems as the same weekend Mancunian Way is fully closed which will cause a headache for people trying to get to/from Old Trafford, only saving grace is that its a 17:30 Kick-Off apparently.

Exactly. These plans are made by TFGM who would be directly incharge of franchising in Manchester. If they can’t forward plan, and arrange the engineering on a weekend there’s little or no events on what does it say for franchising.

And yet Rotheram has still failed to say how this franchising system of his is going to be better than what we have now. He has however said that subsidies would be needed from central government. Good luck with that one
This idea really is for the birds

Again personal attacks, lost the argument already
