That's if Labour retain the Mayors position, after everything they have done to Liverpool of late I would hope they didn't but I have my doubts. If they do get in, I'd be amazed to see them revert anything what they have done here as they have simply made the city centre a complete mess to use.

You are the admin person and have the ultimate say on what is posted on here but I can't see much changing when it comes to matters of public transport provision whoever is elected in Liverpool in next month's local elections.

It may surprise you but politicians don't actually design highways schemes, traffic modelling and design work is actually done by specialists and professional officers

Yes I am quite aware of that but I'm also aware that Joe Anderson has had a hand in some of this cities most baffling decisions. Do the Labour ran Council have NO say in the traffic modelling and design work then - if so, what ARE they responsible when it comes to making Liverpool City Centre a complete mess for public transport?
By the way - someone else started the discussion about a new party bringing new ideas to the table, I was simply replying that if Labour remain in charge there will be little change to the outlook on public transport in this city which is really second rate.
But thanks for trying to talk down to me, I appreciate it.

But usually only after politicians have suggested what they would like to happen.
And from what I have seen - in Liverpool & elsewhere, some of the schemes designed by "experts" have made congestion worse, rather than better.
Even if politicians don't design them they still sign them off, in Liverpool's case, if they asked for 6 spaces then that just shows that they haven't a clue about bus travel or the number of buses that come into the city. Let's face it, our former totally honest mayor was anti-bus so it was always going to be inadequate which most of us already seen coming
By the way 1466, it was Mayor Joe Andersons decision to scrap bus lanes within the City of Liverpool - so all this rubbish that politicans have no say in traffic modelling and design work is beyond a joke. The Labour ran council, headed by Joe Anderson had an obvious disinterest in making buses a priority for the city - the man was also behind the removal of buses from the Pier Head simply as he did not want them near where he resided.

Politicians do not sign off design and traffic modelling, they sign off decisions on funding and sometimes contract awards. Also when traffic modelling schemes are in the design phase, both Merseytravel and the bus operators are consulted and given the opportunity to comment or object, that is the process, trust me I know what I'm talking about. It was however a political decision to suspend the bus lanes taken by the Mayor, why he done that you will have to ask him

Joe Anderson did not display a disinterest (was neutral) on where buses operated; he was totally opposed to them running on the streets of Liverpool.

Well - I did hear whispers about a relative of a council member being caught in a bus lane. No idea if it is true.........
