Liverpool City Region Bus Franchising
RE: Liverpool City Region Bus Franchising
Who came up with the timings of these franchised services. There doesn't seem to be regular intervals between hourly services, when one bus can follow another after 20 minutes and then no bus for forty minutes. And how can one bus take an hour from end to end and yet a bus that leaves ten minutes later can take an hour and fourteen minutes. And what is with the short Sunday journeys on the 407?

Yep because no evening & Sunday 416/416A the 417 has about a 35 minute layover in Moreton which is nuts, buses could go dead to Laird Street depot given that takes 10-15 minutes lool.

The reason for an evening & Sunday service on the 417 is they're withdrawing the 423, which itself is being replaced by the 413, the reason the 417 having an evening & Sunday service is that those in Town Meadow area still have a bus to Arrowe Park Hospital, however the 417 will be every 60 minutes were as the 423 is every 30 minutes, which again is nuts.

Travel News Update 25 - 31 October 2026

Planned changes to bus services

There are no planned changes this week

Think someone forgot to pass on a few bus timetable changes for that week.

I do wonder if they’ll interwork some of these services. Looking at the evening 407 timetable, it has a 1 minute layover in Liverpool and no layover in Moreton

It's more of a Liverpool-Moreton Circular as it serves Bermuda Road, Town Meadow Lane, Millhouse Lane and back on to Hoylake Road towards Liverpool.

Indeed, no way the 407/417 will interwork with each other, the revised 407 is more a loop around Town Meadow then back to Liverpool, the 417 will have that layover in Moreton because no evening & Sunday 416/416A.

Be interesting to see if any of the interworkings still happen next week [like 432/433 interworking with the 437], although doubt the 407 will interwork the 471/472 from Sunday given the frequencies of both routes.
