Had a day trip to Manchester today for photo's, Oxford Road city bound was almost a solid line of buses.....the lights at Oxford Road/Whitworth Street only seemed to let a couple through, and Oxford Street was nearly a solid line too. Related to the days's visit, five ex Oxford Hybrids seen by myself....12015 on the 15, 12016/12019/12026 on the 256 and 12023 on the 38. HTH https://www.flickr.com/photos/dmc1947/ |

RE: Stagecoach Manchester and Wigan
Any general problems today in Manchester or is it just traffic light phasing going haywire as well as the weather conditions . |

I would say it's the roadworks on Oxford Road, down to one lane heading into the city centre......just from what I observed during my time in Manchester (1030ish to 1330ish) HTH https://www.flickr.com/photos/dmc1947/ |

But additional factors include the Oxford Street being made two-way from today, constant lane changes/closures on adjoining roads, exacerbated by Dangerous/illegal manoeuvres by road users on these roads. Other than that, no settled Plan B. There are something like 72 buses an hour past the front of MRI (including those from inside the grounds) to Piccadilly. There is ONE, yes, one bus an hour (Arriva 130) giving Hospital outpatients, visitors staff and other bus users along the A34 direct access to Piccadilly without getting caught up in this chaos. Do the 130's not normally come along Oxford Road?? They were today.....I photo'ed 2932 at the junction of Oxford Street and Portland Street on the 130. HTH https://www.flickr.com/photos/dmc1947/ |

RE: Stagecoach Manchester and Wigan
I know that on I think it was Saturday evening I was on my way into Piccadilly on train and looking down onto Whitworth Street near Ritz I noticed a couple of 42s & 43s heading into Manchester that way instead of up Oxford Road, so obviosuly left at College of Music then in via 101/104/105 route after that must have been the route they were taking. |

Quite surprised to see 18110 on the 168/169 yesterday lunchtime. Very rare to see anything other than Enviro400's and MMCs these days. |

I carnt remember where I read it but it suggested the reserve status of the ex Maynes presidents and 18110/11 meant the end of trident operation for stagecoach Manchester but clearly this info is possibly a little premature. Are there still tridents in use at Middleton? |
