Detailed info for the loop closure is here including the rail replacements...anyone heard who operationg these apparent 'high quality' rail replacements

Arriva probably. Any bus that isn't Happy Al's can be classed as high quality!!

RE: Merseyrail
Arriva will probably find some half decent double deckers for the work as it will be very high profile.

Heard on local radio that Buses are replacing trains at the moment because of this, any idea of who's operating the service as surely the likely operators who would normally operate the replacements might not be able to due to vehicles being utilisied on Schools

RE: Merseyrail
An adhoc rail replacement like this will be whatever can be got at the time , may be more than just Arriva

RE: Merseyrail
Anyone know if Tierney Bros are still operating? They used to do Rail replacements for Merseyrail with a DAF and a Leyland Leopard coach. I last saw them out back in 2009 when 507002 had its runaway incident at Kirkdale.

RE: Merseyrail
Quite a sharp frost this morning I caught the first train from Maghull to Ormskirk this morning and it struggled out of Maghull even though it looked like the Sandite MPV had been through as the Liverpool bound track looked to have been coated.

RE: Merseyrail
The problem is that the MPV's are geared up for the leaf fall season and therefore have the sandite and water jetting modules onboard rather than the deicing modules which will be used after the sandite season.
