Didnt Network Rail originally have Stone down on a closure list just like most of the other local stations south of Stoke On Trent , but public discontent stopped Stone from being closed down for good. |

Closures are nothing to do with Network Rail, except inasmuch as they fail to spend money to enable them to remain open. I don't believe the stations concerned were ever the subject of closure proposals - I often wonder if because the minor wayside stations had already shut on the WCML, Beeching's team overlooked the others |
