Ive been thinking that it could be donating parts to 17449 which got towed in a while back and hasnt seen service sinse. Pretty sure thats the reason 17272 is back being used on schools. God knows whats up with it though. |

I was trying to illustrate that that buying a used/life expired vehicle as a spares resource is a trenchant of Stagecoach since their early days as aScottish independent and not just the conglomerate they are today WhiteVanMan. |

Will be interesting to see whether over the next 2 years, sizeable numbers of older Dart SLFs/Solos are used for spares rather than being sold on for further use? This also has the benefit of 'starving' the second hand market and making it harder/more expensive for competitors to find vehicles for tenders etc. But maybe 13 - 15 year old vehicles will be worn out and only suitable for the Scrap Man? |

RE: Stagecoach Merseyside - Gillmoss Depot
the way certain buses are riding aged 6 years old i cant see them making the second hand market i find the build quality has gone down with the loss of Northern Counties. Hell even Wrights aren't as good and they for me had the highest build quality upto around 2007 then they dropped a bit if you compare a 05/55 plate Volvo Wrights to a 59 Plate pulsar you would guess wrongly which is older Bring Back Arriva Skelmersdale |

RE: Stagecoach Merseyside - Gillmoss Depot
Think with Wrights it's the quality of the undereath they build on, Volvo and Scania are a far superior product than VDL. Rode on an 06 plate Blackpool Transport Volvo a few weeks ago and not a single rattle at all. |

I don't think we'll see that as there's not the financial incentive to start stripping darts/solos for parts. As both designs have been around for so long with limited design changes (both Solo and Dart SLF appeared in 1998), and because they were built with common parts for the time, there is still a large spares pool. Things like Volvo Olympians and early Dennis Tridents are slightly different as the availability of spares is beginning to drop; the DH10A unit from the Olympian hasn't been produced since 2000, and the C series unit in Tridents became an ISCe at Euro 3 (significant change, though engines are related) and then an ISBe from Euro4 to current. |
