Repainting vehicles isn't that expensive - if you ignore staff costs (on the basis that the staff would be employed there anyway painting something), the cost of repainting a dart is only around £30 in paint.

The coach being painted is 52360, 866 PYC which was transferred from East Scotland.

No surprise really that 34579 is getting repainted - mid-life darts like it will be in high demand to meet the DDA deadline.

It wasnt converted into a trainer, it had only been painted. A bit like 21118, its only used for driving assessments and route learning with drivers who can already drive a bus. I dont think 34579 received extra mirrors though, whereas 21118 has.

Well with 34598 34599 34600 34601 34602 36071 & 36072 going (7 buses) amd 34815/816/817/818/819/820 arriving (6 buses) i presume that 34579 could be that 7th bus if i havnt missed something out. Feel free to correct me if i have.

Not sure where 34598 is, maybe Scotland again? 34599 34600 & 34601 are in reserve at Gillmoss, 34602 is in use at Preston, it was unusually on the 2 today, and, i think, 36071/2 are at Rock Ferry.

Ah, but all those moves of darts happened several months ago and Chester has been fine since. So it doesn't explain 34579s repaint and reappearance in service on its own...
