RE: More Arriva London cascades?
Yh agree totally, the fitters at winsford have done a sterling job keeping the DLAs going. They've been a constant headache & a bit unreliable & as for the VLWs they've been given a thorough refresh I.E. seating re trimmed etc so even if we only have em 4yrs or so they're a vast improvement on what we've got. |

Most of the DLAs saw a full refurbishment internally though, they were treated the same as the VLWs were when they came up - this is nothing new! |

RE: More Arriva London cascades?
In terms of smaller vehicles (mainly for Wales) I can see them having to buy new for the North West to displace the Slimline Solos and SRs as there isn't really any of that size in London anymore, except EN1-13 which are on 57 plates, so a while until they are withdrawn. Except for 922 all the other MPDs are between 12 and 14 years old, with 902-907 recently hitting their 14th birthdays. Of course over the next few years we have no idea of any inter-company transfers either. Wrexham Transport (Flickr) |

RE: More Arriva London cascades?
I am not sure how many more Arriva London cascades will arise now. Even modern 03-reg DLAs have recently been sold rather than cascaded within Arriva. Mind you, they have not been very popular outside London. Some more VLWs are becoming spare from E (displaced by DWs from BN) and SF (as route 253 is due newer buses soon). I wonder whether any will come to the North West? |

I rode (I think) 4171 last February. This was an honour being a refurbished long example, as I only managed a refurb short example in London. Alas the remaining ones were withdrawn and sold when Arriva lost route 34 last November. |
