Major disruption on the Wirral line this morning due to a problem under investigation services running between Chester/Ellesmere port and Birkenhead central only and between New Brighton/West Kirby and Birkenhead north only these services are subject to delay and cancellation. No service at all between Birkenhead and Liverpool passengers are advised to make their own travel arrangments to get to Liverpool from Birkenhead this was annouced over the tannoy when i was waiting for my train at Maghull before.

Services are presently running on the Northern Line between Liverpool Central and Aintree and on the Wirral Line between Liverpool and West kirby , New Brighton.

Two of the units in the above 18 car formation were 507001 and 508143, used on today's Branch Line Society 'Merseyrail 750 V Tracker' railtour.

im not sure that all the units could have been taking power at the same time as it would have take too much power out of the third rail and blown fuses in the substations , highly likely that at least 3 maybe four could have been taking power .

Well what it says about rail replacement buses being refused is a lie. Laird Street had some Volvo hybrids out doing Rail Replacements this morning and there was a green sign outside Chester station telling people to wait for the Merseyrail rail replacement bus.
