I do know that the previous operator of the 144/145 (Cumfybus) also ran these as commercial services but failed to make a profit from them despite good loadings. This was primarily because a lot of pensioners used these routes but were rarely required to tap in their passes on the ticket machine reader as the drivers treated the routes as their own personal race tracks and were keen to set their own daily lap records. Avon management take note. |

RE: Avon Buses
All 3 groups of routes have been commercialised from April, believe the 202/4 is doing esp well. Avon have moved to a flat fare on the Wirral as of this week, of £2.40, Liverpool flat fare remains £2.20. |

RE: Avon Buses
Probably a lot easier for the driver and passenger to understand , but it does make short journeys very dear indeed |

RE: Avon Buses
With the imminent withdrawal of the 53A between Crosby and Aintree by both Arriva (11th Jan) and Stagecoach (25th Jan) I wonder if Avon's management has considered extending the hours of operation of its 122 between Fazakerley Hospital and Crosby? The replacement Arriva 63 service timetable has a much later start than the 53A and will only operate on a 30 minute frequency, something that will prove to be totally inadequate at peak times especially during term time. Currently, between 07.00-08.30 there are 12 53As from Aintree Station towards Crosby but this will be reduced to just two 63s by the end of January. |

The management of Avon will have to be further convinced of the need for an extension in operation , its a game of watching the Arriva chaos pan out I think. |

I am sure that on the 25th January the drivers of the 122 will pay in twice as much as they do now and complain to the management that they were unable to maintain their timetable because of the loadings. |

RE: Avon Buses
I think the management at Avon do know that but they want first hand experience first to see whether any alterations are going to be worth it . No use applying for a registration change if its not worth it and there is nothing better than first hand figures . |
