Arriva North West - Green Lane Depot
RE: Arriva North West - Green Lane Depot
It appears Green Lane has received its first Enviro400 for the 10B, numbered 4584 and registered SL64JCX.

I would assume that Green Lane's batch will enter service when the 10B frequency reduction takes place which IIRC was 10 January 2015.

Just a shame they can't be in service for the Christmas rush! Ah well, any form of decker for the 10 corridor is very welcome indeed.

What was the last new decker delivered to Green Lane prior to this one? I might be wrong but I think it was one of the 216-230 Alexander Leyland Olympians in 1989.

Advertised on the radio that the unveiling of the new buses for route 10B will be in Huyton this Saturday. Hope I heard it correctly.

Which was the last decker allocated to GL? I think it was Olympian 3310 but stand to be corrected.

All time rail mileage travelled 327264 miles

RE: Arriva North West - Green Lane Depot
Regarding DDs at GL over the years yes the 0216-0230 Alexander/Olympians were the last new ones to be delivered to GL around May/June 88. When Edge Lane closed their 0241-0250 batch joined GL in July 91 and in the summer of 92 at least one or more of LS’s Northern Counties/Olympians from 0264-0270 batch got briefly used by GL on the 10A/41/42. GL did lose all of their ex-MPTE Olympians 0030-34/0037-41 and 0064-68 towards the end of 1992 but did gain a fair few Titan’s from the Autumn of 1996 both refurbished ones and some which Liverbus bought for it’s London Suburban Bus operation. Around 1998/99 some of the 0216-0230 batch were transferred to LS and after the Arriva takeover GL got downsized and gradually all of their Alexander Olympians were sold off by 2001 with some of GL's batch went to Arriva Cmyru/North East, Centrebus and UK North. In 2001 some of GM’s Palatine 2/Olympians were allocated to GL for the 12/13/14’s and X1 and some oddball deckers from Arriva North East and Southend were short-term loaned to GL for Merseyrail replacement works in Southport in 2002. Around the end of 2002/03 all of GL’s deckers were moved to Bootle and Huyton (briefly) and it’s been a all single deck allocation since although the takeover of GTL by Stagecoach has considerably cut down the competition on GL routes particularly in East Liverpool/Knowsley. Hope this helps.

Now that's what I call a detailed response. Thanks a lot. When these deckers arrive for the 10 road it will interesting to see how passengers react to them many having never known the joys of riding on the top deck. It will also be a novelty for many drivers too and I presume every driver in the depot will need to be trained up hence the early arrival of the two of them.

Not forgetting 0201 E201WBG working from GL in exchange for 0222 E222WBG which went to LS in it's 'Shoemarket' allover advert, somewhere around 1991/1992ish
