The Arriva Decker Influx
RE: The Arriva Decker Influx
The way things are going though we could get to a point where most buses at Arriva will have been replaced with something newer , then we reach a hiatus in new vehicles once again.

Are you suggesting they'd be more or less inclined to invest in new buses, especially deckers, because the bus lanes are being scrapped?

The effect of their suspension has not been anywhere near as significant as I would have imagined. Investment will surely be unaffected by the fate of the bus lanes.

Albeit one conceded it was difficult to assess how much of the extra journey time was due to bus lane suspension, and how much due to general roadworks. I would have thought a reduction in investment as increased running time mrans additional running costs and fewer customers (so less revenue).

I don't think a few BBC interviews prove anything really.

It's much to early to assume these closures will have any impact on new bus orders. Certainly, Arriva haven't fought tooth and nail in recent weeks to prevent the suspensions becoming permanent - their two Pulsars with Save Our Bus Lanes wraps were repainted several weeks ago!

What is more likely to see fewer new bus orders in the coming years is the relative lack of bus stock between the 51 and 54 regs. There are a lot of W, X and Y buses to see off in the next 18 months or so which would explain why the forthcoming order is so large.

With more double-deckers coming to Merseyside, I wonder whether any of these will be to Max or even Sapphire standard? I hope to ride route 375 or 385 in November, but may lose interest if their E40Ds seem a potential anti-climax after my Sapphire E40D ride in Rhyl next week!

I would have thought that the B7's will be replacing DLA'S, so this is probably another pointless rumour.

I don't think the DLA's have been the success that Arriva thought they may have been , some came up from London in a terrible state , im sure some snails could have overtaken a few of them as with every batch there will have been some good ones that depots will want to keep though.

Where the DLA's just a stopgap measure ?

This morning Arriva announced a £10 million investment in 53 brand new deckers for Merseyside.

Services 10, 10A, 10B and 52 are set to benefit from the investment.

RE: The Arriva Decker Influx
It seems slowly but surely Arriva is starting to move some of the investment around there depots , its come rather slowly .

Is this a way of saying we can do better under the present set up and not to tinker with going back to full regulation that the Labour Party want us to have .
