Merseytravel Timetable Changes
RE: Merseytravel Timetable Changes
Oh well the literature in the press is now next to useless , it now just says there is a change and the service number , no further details , and this was supposed to be an improvement over what went before .

But you know there is a change, so the advert has worked!
You can now use your PC to visit their website, visit a travel centre, call traveline or order a free timetable for more info. Plus you can sign up for their weekly email.
Give them a break. Do you know how much it is to advertise in a newspaper?
Nowhere else in the country advertises service changes in newspapers so let's just be grateful hey.

Im not going to get into an exchange of words over this so this will be my last word on it .

The point of what I was trying to say the previous set up told us what the change would be , not everybody yet has access to a pc , tablet or other media device just yet . Not much use having email updates if you don't have access to any of the above media's

Travel centre (or any other one of over 300 outlets such as libraries or hospitals that stock their timetables) or phone.
Don't need a PC.

The basic point im getting across here is the publicity of the changes , not where you can get the timetables.

Even TfGM on there website has a basic description of the change , which is better than merseytravel do now .

Its also not much help when you receive the said email update only on the Friday night before changes on Monday, surely it would be better a week before - look at all the changes taking place next week and the next few weeks, people might only find out on the Friday that they no longer have a bus service or it is substantially changing from the weekend, or what happens if they are away for the week/weekend they wont know anything about it! At least in the merseymart it was every Tuesday without fail, then we also had the monthly update leaflet available and both have fallen by wayside so unless we are "signed up" changes will not be known about, and even then its hush hush until Friday night.

All Changes until August listed on their website... How much notice do you want?
http://www.merseytravel.gov.uk/travellin...ges--.aspx
Click on the timetables and the changes are explained fully on the front page, unlike tfgm, so why waste loads of money duplicating it in the newspaper?

And the email I got off them on Friday gave advance notice of the changes on 15 June. And it refers to the above planned changes page every week to encourage you to look at it.

I'm not sticking up for them. Just think they do provide all the info people need.
And the bus companies should advertise too. After all, it is them that are changing their services.

RE: Merseytravel Timetable Changes
What happened to the monthly changes leaflet? That was a good idea which was similar to what Lancashire County Council do and have done for years. The only time it dosen't work is if there's a last minute change or the operator dosen't release full details of the change until the last minute.

RE: Merseytravel Timetable Changes
Its all very all for us younger ones and those in the know to find the information online, but there is still a large part of society who dont have access too, regularly go on,or are confident in using the internet, obviously the older ones, and the still look for the hard copies that have always been there, plus theres a lot of other folk who will only go into the travel centres and not look online - so how do they keep tabs on whats changing? The monthly update was a great idea I thought at least it made people aware of things coming up, like the future changes list on the website is a great addition - however we shouldnt just rely on one format of information these days - multichannel is the way forward, just like retailers do now, theres 2 separate generations if you think about it.

As you’ll see, a large number of bus services, right across Merseyside, are changing
this week. Our team is working flat-out to get all the information updated and displayed
at all the bus stops that need changing. If your stop hasn’t been updated yet, please
bear with us - we’re working as fast as we can.

On Sunday 15 June, we’re making some changes to bus stops in Southport town centre.
The stopping places for some buses will move to either new or existing bus stops.
For more details, look out for advance notices on the affected bus stops this week
