RE: Merseyrail
I assume the Kirkdale accident unit will be one of the last to be given this refresh. |

RE: Merseyrail
The cl313s have done test runs on Merseyside. To be honest, if new trains don't arrive soon, id like them up here. At least they'd provide extra capacity and could be used for any Merseyrail expansion projects that use OHLE |

RE: Merseyrail
You have to look at lines where new trains have been provided to see a step change in service punctuality and reliability. One thing that any new trains have to do is sort out the excessive wheel wear caused by the Liverpool loop , whether there will be a change in the type of bogies used is up for answering. |

RE: Merseyrail
While it would be great to see 313s on Merseyside, they aren't going to be spare during the time the 507/8s have left. The 313/2s at Southern, when replaced, are going back on the Great Northern for enhanced Hertford Loop services from what I've seen of the plans. Even that won't be until at least 2018.

RE: Merseyrail
Oh I agree that it is highly unlikely that the 313s will ever come up here, but it still would be ideal. I don't really see any need to expand the great northern service. When I travel on it, it is very quiet, especially past Finsbury Park towards Moorgate |

When I travel on it, it is very quiet, especially past Finsbury Park towards Moorgate Off-peak, I definitely agree with you - they use 3 cars at this time and they are more than sufficient - but in peak times, the contrast is incredible. Almost all 6 cars with extra trains on both Moorgate routes and they are all full to standing. I'd say the Hertford North service is busier than the Welwyn GC one, so maybe they will extend the peak runs which turn back short at Gordon Hill with the extra 313s? It will be interesting to see what happens. While on the subject of 313s, FCC's ones will need a refresh internally (and alterations to the livery) to comply with the post-2019 DDA regulations. Merseyrail's 507/8s are more or less compliant and have been since refurbishment.

RE: Merseyrail
What will the change in livery be needed for? The interior is poor I have to admit. The 313's are DOO and have the older style door motors fitted. But the Southern ones would be a great addition to Merseyrail! |

RE: Merseyrail
Due to Hooton signalling panel failing there is NO service between Rock Ferry - Ellesmere Port / Chester. Buses are being sort. Rail service only running between Rock Ferry - Loop - Rock Ferry. North Wirral services not affected. |
