A few extra buses would help to ease the capacity issue and allow for a few more journeys from Rhyl to Chester its silly that the last Chester journey is at 5:15 in the afternoon and the last two finishing at Flint theres no other services that people can use from Flint so the only way to carry on towards wherever they want to go is on the train which means more money

Operating discs are a legal requirement and are those little circle things you find above the tax disc.

For example, if Chester depot had a PVR of 30. they would have a minimum of 30 buses for each route, and those buses would need a minimum of 30 operating discs.
If the depot decided to run more buses per hour (say 5), they would not only need space in the depot, they would need an extra 5 buses and an extra 5 operating discs and taxed vehicles to run the service.
Each depot has a set amount of discs, and would have to seek regional management to get more, if you see it this way, say Arriva Wales has 100 discs, they would have to be shared per depot.

You have to pay to VOSA each time you wish to Create/ammend/or remove a service your company operates, you also have to pay for additional operators discs that you have to apply for, as well as other costs such as staffing, buses, insurance, fuel, vosa, tax etc before a route change becomes "financially viable"...

Key routes 12 and X11 amongst others are currently suspended due to the ongoing storm on the North Wales coast.

RE: Arriva Buses Wales - Rhyl Depot
any news on any new buses for rhyl for 2014. I was just casualy sat in rhyl bus station yesterday and optare solo 697 would not start for 10 minutes

dart 844 broke down on high street
dart 921 broke down in bus station

really these darts need to go. I think rhyl should get replacments like optare solo sr or small optare versas to replace darts and enviro 400 sapphire for route 12

Another idea could be to transform the arriva 51 service like ' The vale rider 51 '
