Stagecoach MCSL - Gillmoss Depot
RE: Stagecoach Merseyside - Gillmoss Depot
Indeed, and the simple response would be to compare other cities. I've spent the last two weekends in Manchester and sampled a fair few of Stagecoach's Enviro400s there. Let's not beat about the bush: some of these are very vandalised. Even the route 192 hybrids, only a few months old, have all had their windows etched, many badly. By comparison, most of the double deckers at Speke have no window vandalism at all, just a few lighter burns here and there and the odd tag. Manchester's buses have these problems as well, at least as badly. (I'm not putting down Manchester here - it's a great city - just illustrating a point.)

In short, Liverpool's issue is no worse than other cities, yet we keep hearing this 'vandalism' excuse. It's a weak and poor reason for not providing the required capacity, and I can't help thinking that if Gillmoss had the same management as Manchester's Hyde Road and Sharston depots, it would have a majority double deck allocation. Certainly the 10A, 14, 20/21, 82 and 86 and possibly the 17 and 19 as well.

Alternatively, the management at Gillmoss care (too much?) about the interior standard of vehicles. I can imagine with the Manchester vandalism is seen as a necessary evil, which must be tolerated.

The point being made here is that buses in Liverpool are not that badly vandalised so the excuse is somewhat redundant. The current Trident interiors are a real mix match of colours too so standards don't bother them that much. Rock Ferry gets much better Enviro 400s for a QBP but plenty of GM routes would benefit from deckers just as much if not more. Especially the 20/21 which is a route they face no direct competition on and is very busy throughout the day.

Oh Superman where are you now, when everything's gone wrong somehow, the men of steel, the men of power, are losing control by the hour.

Sadly, vandalism is a marjor problem in this country. Its not just marjor cities and towns that suffer from vandalism. As my user name suggest, I am a self-empolyed courier driver. As such I deliver all over the UK, I often see bus stops in the middle of nowhere (the nearest house being some 10-15 mins walk down some narrow lane), which have been vandalised.

I'm not one to go on about needing deckers and stuff as we just go round in circles, but on the vandalism point you do see some single decks with the same level of vandalism as the deckers, you only have to get on some of Green Lanes Pulsars for example, some of them are pretty dire further back. What about the last batch of Enviro300's, wasn't 27769 vandalised early as well, not at the same level but still vandalised with backs of seats scorched and missing the small inserts at the backs of the seats.

I could not agree with you more.

In the last few years, Liverpool in general as come a much cleaner city, and pleasant place to visit. Sadly, there always somebody somewhere that will spoil it!

I agree with you, vandalism is pretty much all over the country, most places have their scumbags that just like to ruin things for fun. Not sure how it is fun though.

The new management at GM doesn't believe they need deckers and all routes can be single decker run also GM will be becoming an all Enviro depot the 04 and 55 plate Darts might be going Rock Ferry and the SPDs sold on

If that is what the new management thinks, I really do despair. They obviously don't ride their routes sufficiently or monitor their routes correctly. If the Tridents go and Gillmoss becomes entirely single deck again, that really would be disgusting.
