Chester station completely evacuated.

Merseyrail service report to be alight on Platform 7.

(1945 from Liverpool Central, 2030 from Chester)

Someone is in for a rather large bill!

RE: Merseyrail
Station now reopened with substantial disruption, and, I assume, a unit stuck on Platform 7!

RE: Merseyrail
507003 is the culprit.

Not too sure what has happened. 4 fire engines turn up and entire station evacuated, but on twitter, Merseyrail deny that a fire occurred, despite several people asking specifically about a fire.

Bit too much for a plastic bag in a resistor fan, so must have been something pretty unusual.

Im led to believe the unit was switched off and the unit was still smoking away .

I dont know whether its the higher propensity to pick up plastic bags at speed that is the problem that then stick to the housing thats the problem.

For once the old plastic bag wasn't to blame!
It was a fault with the resistor fans
It was a fault with the resister
