Escaping again on to the 356 late board this evening should be 2421 - St Helens obviously have more faith in their reliability than other depots have done! 2418 was swapped for 2709 at 1450. There will probably be another swap due to the B10BLE lates ban. |

RE: Arriva North West - St Helens Depot
It's not a ban as such, it's just that management and engineering would rather not have the B10BLEs out on late boards due to previous instances of fuel starvation and the like. Indeed 2712 carries a notice in the cab due to high fuel consumption. However, it's difficult to get them swapped off the likes of the 89 due to short layover times so if a bus comes in late, it has to go straight back out. Swaps for late boards generally rely upon the driver taking the vehicle down to Jackson Street as opposed to a bus being brought out. Whether 2709 stays out tonight will likely depend upon who's driving more than anything else. Interesting to note 2418 was swapped off though St Helens Rider - seemed fine when I had it Rainford bound around on the 13.25 working. It's a bit bouncier than the other X-reg Cadets I've ridden and somewhat more substantially crashy but still a good bus in terms of the ride, which was notably smooth, and it's turn of speed which was good compared to 2416 I rode on Saturday and noted to be horribly sluggish pulling away and gaining any real kind of speed. |

RE: Arriva North West - St Helens Depot
If 2418 was on the 1325, then something else then was running the 1455 as I seen 2418 on Corporation Street (Jackson Street bound) at just before 1450 displaying 37 Eccleston (so must have worked the 1420 37). Was only with seeing 2709 on the 1450 37 that I presumed it was 2418's replacement. I'm yet to sample the recently acquired Cadets as I unfortunately had the dreaded 7640 on my 34 back into St Helens this afternoon. If there is a V-reg ready for the scrapper (as Motor Mayhem suggests), surely this would be the ideal candidate - it's definitely a hope!. |

RE: Arriva North West - St Helens Depot
2418 was definitely on the 13.25 out of St Helens. The bus which should have been operating that 14.50 37 was 2421 (the late duty). 2418 would have been coming in around 14.50 so it could just be that the destination hadn't been changed down route hence still displaying 'Eccleston'. |

2418 and 2496 were on the non-late duties this morning - 7627 was on the working this evening that 2418 was on at the start of the day. |

I'm sure 2709 was on the 38 this morning. |

RE: Arriva North West - St Helens Depot
Where about did you note it at that time? If it was taking up the 15.25 38 then that fits in with it replacing 2421 on the late board. |
