Still relatively unusual for a weekday is the sight of 3027 on the 61 this morning,

I had Pulsar 2 MX12 KWL (3118) on my 311 this morning. Apart from my first ride on it when pretty-much new, this bus has always stunk of diesel when in motion for some strange reason! Today, it seemed to have that smell when it was turning. It's not as strong as it was, but it isn't pleasant for my sensitive nose!

Pulsar 2 MX12 KWZ (3110) was my chariot home at midday (also on the 311). The differential on this is odd - it actually sounded a bit like one of Bootle's old Dennis Lances when the bus was travelling along at high speeds without the accelerator being used! Apart from the squeaking at the back and front and the odd rattle, I like this example - nice whistly gearbox!

I had 2232 on my 311 from Skelmersdale to Aintree this afternoon. Its suspension could do with a bit of a tweak and its interior would definitely benefit from a deep clean/refurbishment; a few seats at the back also need to be checked-out because they rattle and clang badly! What a fast bus it is, though - straight up the hills along the route without any funny business and it pretty-much managed 55/60-MPH between Ormskirk and Lydiate! DEFINITELY the better one of the three old-standard-liveried Plaxton Pointer 2s at Bootle at the moment... X224 ANC (2224) is an awful bus in many departments and X228 ANC (2228) isn't far behind 2232's quality!

According to the Arriva North West Facebook page, there will be 12 Enviro400s due here from Birkenhead imminently. These I expect are a straight replacement for Bootle's DLAs.

That is a slight surprise to get those, wasnt aware the DLA's were for withdrawal yet but then some are coming on for 15 years old.

As far as I'm aware, Bootle are getting Trident/Enviro400 deckers from the wirral come January.
Remember, LS are due their hybrids soon.

Good riddance to the DLAs I say!

The Trident/Enviro400 deckers were due at the end of January, but the overcharging fault on the new hybrids has prevented their arrival.

Expect them here in the next two weeks.

I must have missed or forgotten about that posting, it was 4 months ago and I do have other things to do other than think about buses.

I should've mentioned that a driver told me (in December) that the DLAs were due for replacement and he said Wirral deckers were going to replace them.

Even so, I'll be glad when the DLAs are gone, nice buses to ride, HORRIBLE things to drive

Thats Ok Mathias, personally I don't mind the DLA's , but some more enviros would be welcomed. Plus it makes sense with Bootle already having some enviros so nothing new to them.
