Is Arriva Trains Wales repainting being done as the old arriva trains livery was based on the bus livery which is also seemingly being changed .

Colour split not dis-similiar to the Sapphire branding. Clearly the dark blue is becoming more prominent, as demonstrated on the hybrid and gas buses also.

Other than Class 142 , 150 and 153 is there any other present unit types passed for Bidston - Wrexham Central.

Does any Bidston - Wrexham service use the turnback siding provided on what was the former Bidston Jnct Triangle .

according to the network rail overnight stabling document the bidston turnaround siding is for arriva use and not merseyrail

The thing is the turnback siding is electrified , could probably be used for clear the line purposes if and when a train is unable to get onto Birkenhead North depot .

Bidston-Wrexham General is cleared for:

Class 142, 143, 144, 150 and 153.
Locos: Class 20, 31/1, 31/4, 31/6, 33, 37/0, 37/3, 37/4, 37/5, 37/6, 59, 60, 66, 67, 73 97/3

All above locos prohibited between Wrexham Central and
Wrexham General unless authorised by the
Infrastructure Manager's track engineer

Services using the Bidston Siding are sporadic.

On Saturdays only, dep from Bidston at: 1733, 2046 only. [Runs SO from 15/12/2012 to 07/12/2013]
On Sundays only, services booked to use it, departing from Bidston at: 0944, 1214, 1444, 1714, 1944, 2214. [Runs SuO from 09/12/2012 to 01/12/2013]

Nothing booked midweek.

Travel is glamorous only in retrospect.

just been announced that bubblecar 121032 has been withdrawn by arriva and will act as a donor for sister company chiltern railways. it has been withdrawn because of the lack of effort from the unit. the route will now be run a class 153.

It was withdrawn because it failed and the parts required to get it moving again cost too much money to make it worth fixing. As a result, the parts that are still serviceable will pass to Chiltern for their Aylesbury shuttle.

Whilst a Class 153 may be used, it is not set in stone. Class 142/143/150 units appear regularly on the very short line between Cardiff Queen Street and Cardiff Bay, (and a full ticket check still gets done!). The short line gets whatever is available, bar 158/175s.

The line would be absolutely ideal for a Class 139. Short, self contained, high frequency operation - and would free up a unit for the Valleys, or even further afield.

Travel is glamorous only in retrospect.

What's a class 139? Never heard of that one!
