Stagecoach Manchester
RE: Stagecoach Manchester
It will be owned by GMB, but that doesn't mean it will be part of Manchester.

Witness that North West used to be a combination of Ribble and Cumberland. MY&SL currently is a combination of GTL and Ribble.
Further, the United Counties operations are split between East and Midlands.

Quite a shrewd move. Hold on to your hats for some major fleet changes in the next few months.

It'll be interesting to see whether Stagecoach will integrate the Wigan operations with neighbouring services and if so, how.

Chorley and St Helens both within reaching distances, allowing the possibility of taking on Arriva plus the possilibilty of linking Wigan with the rest of Manchester.

With the elderly fleet SC are bound to inherit, I wonder if it will mean a reprieve for some of the Volvos currently withdrawn at Gilmoss?

The article clearly says it is to be run as a Manchester operation under Chris Bowles doesn't it?

RE: Stagecoach Manchester
So December is the earliest that a registration deluge with VOSA could happen.

I do think Stagecoach could reinvigorate the bus market in the Wigan area .

Arriva will be watching developments with close interest now to see what there next move is .

I suspect a Wigan - Liverpool service will be looked at again now , considering there taste for interurban services .

I hope that First keep all their modern Volvo/Wright vehicles.
Stagecoach can then invest in new stuff.

Time to get the paint brushes ready Smile That's assuming any of the buses are worthwhile bothering with and won't be going straight to the scrapyard.

Looking at the fleet list I think Blue might be the colour for most of them.
