Latest arrival here is 1433 from Wakefield depot, with 2909 going in the other direction. The swap was due to Wakefield needing a euro 6 compliant Pulsar. 1433 has regained its former fleet number 2919.

News from a friend who works at Runcorn, Arriva have won the contract for a new service numbered X4 from Runcorn to Liverpool via Widnes (hourly using 3 buses). The older ones amongst us will remember the old X4 run by North Western from Runcorn to Liverpool.

Is this likely to be the same route as the X1 with the additional Widnes part of the route like the X5 had?

I think so, like the X5A from 2004, but 2024* all day

Was disappointed when the X1 was withdrawn, large parts of Runcorn are distant from the railway, an express route to Liverpool has always been handy, & was always well loaded, even against traffic flow buses had good loadings, the daft changes Arriva made to the Halton network in 2018 affected the service, those changes were reversed only a couple of years later.
