Out until end of service and out again this morning for a short while, partly working 2C02, until being swapped at Rock Ferry for a Class 777.

507023 had not worked since 24th August.

RE: Merseyrail
507003 & 507029 working on the Southport line this morning for a short while, followed by 507029 spending most of the day and into the evening working on the Ormskirk line, a sight very rarely seen in recent months.

After a spell of near extinct use of the 507s, they really seem to have made a comeback in recent weeks and appear to still be needed on a regular basis.

Even more today, with 4 x 507s currently out (507018 on New Brighton, 507029 on West Kirby, 507003 & 023 as a 6 Car on Southport), with the only 8 Car working on the Southport line having to split earlier today to provide a unit for the Ormskirk line and another Ormskirk diagram without a unit into this evening. Chester and Headbolt Lane lines were also left without a unit for a large portion of the afternoon.

The Class 777s are truly having a terrible time at the moment. I don't think they have ordered enough 777s to cover the 15 min service and at best there is only one 8 Car working on the network recently. Could a reduced service frequency (20min) timetable be on the horizon if things don't start to improve?

That leaves only 507001 not in action. It’s on Birkenhead North, possibly getting the graffiti removed before next weekend’s 507 finale rail tour.

507001 has been fitted with a 'Farewell' sign at either end as spotted outside Birkenhead North depot, suggesting it will feature on the tour tomorrow. I believe it's been out of action recently due to a motor alternator fault.

507003 is out tonight on the Southport line, in charge of the 19.48 Southport - Liverpool Central service at present. The tour pair are in evidence in the wall siding awaiting their big day tomorrow.

Merseyrail have done well in day ticket sales out of saddos like me over the last few weeks with all these 507s out and about. A fantastic little Indian summer for them.

RE: Merseyrail
507001/023 were the units allocated for yesterday’s rail tour.
It remains to be seen if this was the final working for the 507s or if there will be further substitutions for 777s, as apparently the lease for the remaining five units doesn’t end till the end of December
