Last day of Class 508 operation today, with 508104 bowing out on the New Brighton line. The 18.53 New Brighton - Liverpool - New Brighton is set to be the class' final service.

I'm advised 507004 also retires today, sadly.

Strictly speaking, 508104 should be “handed back” in the same condition that they got it ( without graffiti) so maybe that’s why it’s been retired a day or two earlier than usual, to get it removed

I doubt it as 508138 left Birkenhead for scrap with graffiti - and plenty of it.

507004 has also been withdrawn at the same time as 104 but is not graffitied.

I’ve heard, although unconfirmed, that at least one 507 will we going to the Merseyside fire and rescue centre at Birkenhead

The driving cars of 507015 are the ones going to Merseyside Fire and rescue, but at Fazakerley not Birkenhead.
507001 will be going to the Tanat Valley Railway near Oswestry when withdrawn

There is a scrap move, but unsure if it’s Monday. I’ll try to find out.

Update: it’s shown to leave at 2340 on Monday. As there is no slot at Sims, it’s going to Crewe, then forward to Newport at a later date

507001 to the Tanat Valley Railway. It will join Pacer 143616 in preservation at the line. It will be interesting to see what proposals come forward for its use (if any).

Posted on behalf of a friend, who is a part of the 507 Group committee: "The group remains in talks with a number of organisations, but there are currently no agreements in place regarding 507-001. Until we make an official announcement, this remains the case. We still have a lot of work to do before we hopefully achieve the objective we are aiming for."
